While dreaming his creature dreams he tries to tell me of their landscapes. He dreams of unity, of a solid One: indivisible and sure. His attempt at describing what he saw becomes more and more strained until he cannot be sure that this was in fact what he dreamed…when do his desires begin to dictate the details of the dream? These dreams become his history: unfathomable, and therefore, impossible to refute. What came before the sleep that birthed the dream he never spoke to me of. This time seems a mystery. This time is what I am most curious about. The dream has become a confusion, no longer offering insight into a single person, only a labyrinth of desire and self-referential fantasy. More of the dream has been forgotten than recalled. A voice inside him dictates details and greater, more intricate details, further obscuring the time before he slept.
